Consider Your Needs for Privacy and Light Control
Solera® Soft Shades in an opaque fabric (Monroe) and darker color (Saffron). When choosing window treatments for a bedroom, you should first decide whether you need privacy or light control – or both!
Key considerations are fabric type and color: Sheer and light fabrics typically soften and filter sunlight, while semi-opaque and opaque darker fabrics almost completely block it.
If you like to sleep in a very dark room, we offer "blackout" window treatments that are made from light-blocking fabrics and materials and that are designed to minimize light gaps.
Another consideration, of course, is your decorating style. We offer a wide selection of window treatments that complement your décor, from shades and shadings to shutters and blinds.
Room Darkening Shades and Shadings
Silhouette® A Deux™ Window Shadings have an integrated roller shade. Many of our shades and shadings can be combined with a room darkening liner. The liner can be sewn directly to the face fabric, or for ultimate flexibility, it can operate independently.
Silhouette® A Deux™ Window Shadings combine a
Silhouette® shading and a room-darkening roller shade in a single headrail. This setup provides you with maximum light control: from translucent to light dimming to room darkening.
Room Darkening Cellular Shades
Duette® Honeycomb Shades with Duolite™ have two fabric panels. Another option are
Duette® Honeycomb Shades, which offer a wide selection of opaque colors and fabrics and come with the added benefit of increased energy efficiency.
Duette® shades provide maximum privacy and light control when combined with the
Duolite™ feature: Two fabric panels, one made from a light filtering fabric and one from a room darkening fabric, each span the full width of the shade and can be moved independently.
The de-Light feature on these Parkland® Wood Blinds eliminates light spots. If you like the look of blinds but are worried about light spots, many Hunter Douglas wood and metal blinds come with the de-Light™ feature, a routless design that hides cord holes and blocks light more efficiently.
The de-Light™ feature is available on our
-
Parkland® Wood Blinds,
-
EverWood® Alternative Wood Blinds and
-
Modern Precious Metals® Aluminum Blinds.
Luminette® Privacy Sheers are made from both sheer and opaque fabrics. Another great option for bedrooms are
Luminette® Privacy Sheers, which combine a sheer fabric facing with opaque, vertical rotating vanes affixed to the back of the sheer.
This innovative drapery is engineered to do more:
- When the vanes are open, the sheer fabric diffuses and disperses the sun’s rays into soft, natural light.
- The vanes can be rotated to direct the light where you'd like it.
- When the vanes are closed, the opaque fabric provides the privacy of traditional draperies.
NewStyle® Hybrid Shutters provide privacy and light filtering. Shutters are a beautiful option when your main goals are privacy and light filtering, but less so room darkening.
Our classic plantation shutters come in a wide variety of long-lasting materials and finishes. Choose from
-
Heritance® Hardwood Shutters,
-
Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ shutters, and
-
NewStyle® Hybrid Shutters.
